At this point there are only two possibilities remaining for Republican Senators who vote to acquit

Either they are AFRAID OF THE INSURRECTIONISTS or they AGREE WITH THE INSURRECTIONISTS.

In light of the overwhelming case presented by the House Managers so far, there really are no other options. Trump's only defense is a bunch of nitpicky bullshit about the process. The facts can't be denied -- it's incredibly obvious that he totally did it.

Some Senators will acquit because they're afraid of the insurrectionists -- either physically afraid of being targeted by Trump supporters, or afraid they'll lose their seats if they upset Trump's base. To vote against conviction for either reason is just cowardice.

Others will acquit because they agree with the insurrectionists. We already knew this, because half of them were already doing Trump's dirty work for him by directly spreading his lies after the election, up to and including objecting to the electoral college vote count! The House Managers have been very careful to only point the finger at Trump, but they are silently indicting Cruz, Hawley, and the rest, because they were all in on everything Trump stands accused of.

I reckon every Republican who votes to acquit will fall into one of those two categories.

...though it doesn't conflict necessarily with the other two. I think we will be astounded when the real history of our times comes out, and we learn just how many people in DC, especially Repubs, have been compromised by the Russians/Trump Mafia. Look how easily Borat, for Chrissakes, was able to get Rudy Giuliani in a compromising situation in a *comedy movie*. Does anyone think that the Russians, past masters of this art, are doing less?

It's their only two choices... fear of backlash or agreement with the insurrection. I assume the latter is in the majority. Cowards one and all!

I'm deeply hoping a few of the fearful live to rue their cowardice. I'm not making any predictions, I'm just being hopeful. Not only are winds changing, but demographics in some of their states aren't leaning their way.

What transpired in Georgia might happen elsewhere. Times, and demographics, are changing on state levels.
