Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House communications director, says former president Donald J. Trump's legacy will be that of a "domestic terrorist" and an "insurrectionist following the mob of supporters that attacked the Capitol.
"I think this will certainly be his legacy," Scaramucci told Yahoo Finance Live on Wednesday during the second day of the U.S. Senate's impeachment trial against Trump. This will even eclipse the 13 million jobs lost. It'll eclipse the malpractice of the pandemic. I'm not trying to make light of the 430,000 people that died, which is unbelievably tragic. But you can't blame every single death on President Trump. But you can blame this on him.
He'll go down in history once people have a moment to reflect on this as a domestic terrorist, as an insurrectionist. And this will be a stain on him and his family forever.
Scaramucci said the Democratic lawmakers have laid out a "devastating case" against the former President for inciting an insurrection with thousands of supporters storming the Capitol on Jan. 6.
"It's very well thought out, he said. The prosecution is doing a very good job of laying down the facts, and again, not just the speech that the President made on the 6th of January, but all of the additional action items that he did after the election.

(1,202 posts)Trump will go down differently for different people. There will be no consensus. For me, yes he is a seditionist and the worst President and human being to ever hold a high office in this country. To many, he is literally a Godsend.

(1,821 posts)But I think you are right. The insanity doesnt end once the impeachment concludes.
When you have elected officials afraid of at least 30 percent of their constituents it is problematic.
Worse, how many of the elected officials agree with them?
Buckle up

(1,202 posts)if I'm right or wrong. But I am far more worried about Trump supporters than I am of Trump. He's just one older, unhealthy guy. But there are at least 74 million zealots that we have to contend with.

(4,437 posts)ignore their non-disclosure agreements and start talking about what he did to them personally. They are contractors, lawyers, maids, cooks, casino workers, golf caddies, hairdressers, doctors, hookers, you name it. The general public would see the real Drumpf and realize he'd have stiffed them, too. I read somewhere that lawyers won't even be in a room or on the phone alone with him, he lies so much. They want witnesses to what he said. There's got to be some brave souls out there that don't have to worry about their families being hurt or killed. And, like Stormy, can get around the legalities and fines of speaking the truth. It's an emergency in this case, for the good of the country.

(1,202 posts)I wish it would happen too. I just firmly believe that so many of his supporters are with him for life. Nothing will change their minds. I'm not stating this as 100% since I'm not a psychic. But I've been around people who exhibit this behavior.

(4,437 posts)and every living thing while claiming to love them. It's truly mind-blowing. I asked one of them the other day if they would admit it if their lives got better now. They said they really couldn't say cause gas prices and taxes might go up. I replied that gas prices have been fluctuating for years, even when the barrel price was negative we were still being gouged, and that Dumpy's tax cuts were set up for our taxes to go up now. That only billionaires and corporations got permanent tax cuts. I'm not sure if I got it 100% correct, but I know I was close. So this little conversation with a Trumper just proves your point. Many are hopeless toadies. So frustrating to witness and know they are voting against common sense and the betterment of this country for all. But, we can't give up.

(13,036 posts)Than Nixon. The con makes Nixon's corruption look like childsplay. That said, Nixon to this day still has his ardent followers who maintain his innocence. The same cultlike following apply to the con, in much greater numbers. This reflects the degradation of truth &civility, which in turn weaken democracy and we have the dire division we have today.

(5,275 posts)People will look back on this years later and wonder how such a man could win the Presidency.
It really is stunning. Part of the reason is Social Media and other right wing media free to play fast and loose with truth thanks to the Fairness Doctrine that Reagan did away with in 1987.
Then there is the Urban/Rural divide. We educated big city dwellers are the elites they and Trump deride mercilessly.
