1. The trial hasn't revealed anything that these senators didn't already know.

3. It sounds like they didn't know just how close it was to being much worse.

Romney, for example, didn't know that Goodman might have saved his life.

Not that that will change the minds of any of the 44.

4. If they're swayed it won't be because they learn something new

It'll be because it sounds bad enough in the trial that they're afraid voters and donors will stop supporting them if they don't vote to convict. I don't think there is anything else that will sway them.

If the GQP votes lock step against impeachment - Biden will know to there is zero chance they will bargain in good faith on legislation. After that, it should be full speed ahead on passing bills by our slim majority.
