(34,598 posts)The proposal before the House Ways and Means Committee also would provide $1,400 for each dependent, but the payments would cut off entirely for individuals earning more than $100,000 and married couples earning more than $200,000.
We are considering proposals that will give Americans a sense of security in a time of overwhelming uncertainty, said committee chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass. This includes the security of knowing that the second part of their $2,000 check is on the way. For the lowest-income families, this means help affording lifes most basic necessities.

(7,593 posts)I'm operating of memory so don't quote me, but I believe the current bill is:
2021 - $9.50
2022 - $11.00
2023 - $12.50
2024 - $14.00
2025 - $15.00
2026 and on - $15.00 + annual adjustment equal to the mean percent increase of all employee wages in the United States.
It also phases out allowing employers to credit tips toward an employees wages.

President Bidens Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce
On January 22, 2021, President Biden signed the Executive Order (EO) on Protecting the Federal Workforce. This was a broad EO in that it didnt just focus on minimum wage, but took various approaches to helping federal workers.
This EO repealed EO 13957, which then-President Trump used as an attempt to reduce due process protections for many federal employees, making it easier for them to get fired.
As for minimum wage, Section 5 from Bidens EO on Protecting the Federal Workforce instructed the Director of the Office of Personnel Management to create a report with recommendations concerning raising the minimum wage for federal employees to $15 an hour.
And according to the White House, President Biden also plans on issuing another EO within his first 100 days in office that would increase the minimum wage for federal contractors to $15 an hour.

Republicans made and chose their own beds. Let 'em rot in them.
