Being a US Senator must be such a sweet deal...

I’m thinking of Senators who’ve been in for decades e.g. Diane Feinstein, Grassley, McConnell and scores of others. Many are multimillionaires already so is it the money. They make less than $200k. Then there are the republican Senators who would rather give up their born born than risk losing their seat.is it the prestige? The power? Pure ego?

1. power and ego.

Its not about money for most of them. Many are already very wealthy or would make way more sitting on a board of a company. They do it because power and ego is what drives them. For a few, the power is about being able to enact changes for good. Obviously those are people on our side of the aisle. For the GOP senators its about imposing their ideology on the rest of the country facilitating corruption here and there for their allies.

2. All of the above, wealth, power, ego, prestige.

They will go as far as helping or watching their colleagues get killed to maintain all of it.

Everybody thinks they are important in their jobs. We are all replaceable and more regular than we think. IMO.
