Oregon State Capitol visits when my sons were young...

When my sons were in grade school, my husband and I took them to Salem, to tour our Oregon State Capitol. I remember our sons and us, in awe of the beauty and history... Not a single thought of whether we were safe or not. Didn't keep an eye on the doors for armed intruders, nothing like that crossed our minds. Today, that would not be the case, because of the violent trump supporters trying to storm our State Capitol a few months ago. I would not consider our Capitol a safe space for my children. My sons also toured our State Capitol through school field trips, the highlight of the school year. I'm sad to say, I would not sign that permission slip today.
