Trump's defense team's plan to introduce video of other violence? Bring it on!

Talk about putting a nail in their own client's coffin. What better than to bring in additional evidence about how volitile the situation in the country was and their client's direct knowledge of that volitility. So much for missing pieces of the puzzle. So, what you're saying is that there were protests taking place all over the country. That people were on edge and upset. That Trump knew that kind of hair trigger atmosphere was out there. Yet Trump STILL threw a match (actually multiple matches) into that pool of gasoline. And you want to say the fire isn't his fault? Wow, that's a great defense. Go for it, you guys stick with that one.

The House Managers should just say "we though we put a pretty good case together already, but thank you for adding to it". Instead of being exculpatory, it is damning and incriminating. You think it's "whataboutism" or somehow deflects blame but it's just more evidence that your client knew his words would have a likely reaction. The very violent reaction that resulted. I mean, who could have seen this coming? Helen Keller saw this one coming from a mile away and so did Trump.

Very few, if any, conspiracies or other inchoate crimes have direct evidence that the defendant actually said "let's commit this crime, I mean to do it and it is my direct intention to do it". Cases are built upon totality of circumstance. The House Managers have put together a damn good case of setting the scene to the point where only a brain-dead idiot would have been unaware of the likely outcome of Trump's words and actions. Putting additional evidence of actual existing unrest that their client knew about doesn't move their case forward, it just adds to the confirmation that yes indeed, only a brain dead idiot wouldn't have seen this coming
