I don't think they're going to need anything close to the full 8 hours today.
The defense will do a few hours tomorrow, and they'll be able to vote by Sunday.
Then we can all just move on, like the pathetic country that we are, as if nothing ever happened. Watch for it.

(24,718 posts)but I'm afraid you are right.
But this is down for history, posterity.
Nothing can remove the stain.
I feel good - or gratified - about that.

(9,998 posts)I couldn't imagine it not, given what took place.
I don't think history is of much consequence. I said it earlier today, the History of this country, has led us to where we are today. WE HAVE OBVIOUSLY LEARNED SHIT FROM OUR HISTORY.
Not to mention that I am 55 years old, and won't be around for when History does, or more likely doesn't, make a difference, decades from now.
But this NEEDS to have happened, so it can be recorded, and future generations can make of it what they will. Given what we're going through now, I'm not sure it will make any difference. The MORONS in this generation will breed MORONS for future generations, and this insurrection will get debated then, as it is being now.

(24,718 posts)On the history bit: I have heard some say that these vile Rs' GRANDCHILDREN will have to live with this, and decide if grandpa or grandma are worthy of their respect and embrace.

(9,998 posts)There were plenty of young people in that Insurrection against the seat of Government. Thinking that the younger generation are solidly on our side, is foolhardy. If anything, it's more dangerous, as are they, simply due to their ages.
