I heard tRumps lawyers want to equate BLM protests in the Summer to Jan 6th. Or will they try to keep tRump out of inciting and say it was the mob??? I heard that Lindsey was saying Capitol Police should have used deadly force on the mob....duh, how could they have done that if help was being held back??
I maybe all off on this, but could the RICO Act be used on the Sedition Caucus?

(55,334 posts)They're simply no rule against coordinating defense with the senators that I know of. The comparison of impeachment trial is purely metaphorical. Impeachment & removal is its own animal

(2,607 posts)each impeachment trial are negotiated and voted on in the Senate prior to the trial. So unless this is prohibited by the rules to which Schumer and McConnell agreed, its permissible.
Makes sense. Hate that it makes sense, but it does.

(11,435 posts)After bending over to Trump and his chronic whining for 4+ years, this is par for the course. The Republican Party is rotten to the core. Graham and Cruz? Two of the worst.

(833 posts)the traitors--excuse me, Senators--counseled the incompetent lawyers to mumble a while and then sit down and shut up. There's no need to argue a case that's already won.

(1,993 posts)And they have experience in government (US attorney), military (Jag) and supreme Court (clerking and arguing cases) law. While I don't think much of them as senators, they have legal experience and skills they would happily share to help their leader.
I suspect they were presenting briefs and arguments for 45's defense to his official defense team, conspiring again. I wouldn't be surprised if Hawley contributed also, I thought he was sitting aloft to take notes and prepare defense arguments for the former pResident.
If they did provide arguments for the defense team to use, it doesn't seem right to me either.
It should not he allowed, but somehow I don't think it's prohibited. They're saying that procedural rules were reviewed, not that they were assisting the defense. Looks fishy to me.
I've heard that the defense will use less time than they were granted, to make their case.
I won't be watching live, but will read about it and watch it after the fact.
I agree. WTF?!? This is not right, but also not surprising. They should not be jurors, but ...
