I don't get rich people who drive drunk. People like Alice Walton

I don’t get rich people who drive drunk. People like Alice Walton and Bruce Springsteen. Now I understand that Bruce was under the legal limit for a DUI. But the thing is with their money they could take a taxi or Uber, or they could hire a chauffeur for god’s sake. I’ve always said if I was ever mega rich, one of the first things I would do would be To hire a chauffeur. Why don’t they? Plus, that would give two people a job.

You can technically be guilty of DUI with any alcohol at all in your system if there are other mitigating factors. One of those mitigating factors is being in an accident. And you can have an accident due to circumstance beyond your control, such as weather or road conditions. Not taking any chances. I knew a guy who was a Physician's Assistant. He hit a slick spot on the road and crashed his motorcycle, injuring himself. No one else involved. He had a low BAC. Guess what? DUI injury accident. He lost his medical license. Rare case, sure. But really bad consequences.

one of the things I would do is give up driving. Which is interesting because I'm somewhat of a gear head. I just find it to be a chore anymore. I tell my grandkids I can't wait for the DMV to pull my license when I get older so they can drive me every place I need to go.

So he was riding for the fun of it, not something you can delegate to a chauffeur. And while I suppose he could have called for a ride, and somehow arranged for someone to pick up the motorcycle, that would be a weird thing to do given how little alcohol he had consumed.

The fan wanted a picture and Springsteen obliged. One report I read said the arresting officer saw this happen and that’s how it all started.

Can we at least let the facts come out before we crucify the guy? I realize your post isn’t condemning. My comment is just my utter frustration with some other posts I’ve seen trying to amplify this situation. Let the facts be known and then we can decide if he’s to forever be a bad guy.

I’m not ready to give up on The Boss just yet.

.02 is not drunk and Springsteen should be able to have it dismissed. I'm guessing the cop was a bit over-zealous.

Now (post trump 2nd impeachment not-guilty verdict)rich white people get to say, “well, maybe I was drunk when I started to drive, but by the time you stopped me, I wasn’t, so, no DUI.”

Once as a teen I was out w my cousins in their town and I tried a bit of driving, I forgot what went wrong. I panicked about something, pressed the pedal by mistake but not enough for any damage. Someone's house's big bush stopped us. I think it was ok. Wow, was I embarrassed. I had Driver's Ed in HS.
None of my NYC friends had cars, so I couldn't even go practice in a big parking lot.

But since my dad loved to drive we visited cousins in NJ towns, vacations in NYS, or New England, I guess I absorbed enough that I sometimes drive in my dreams, and I do fine! 😄

it is more trouble than it is worth.

Btw, I did that when first learning. Had forward when I needed reverse. Even turned to look behind while hitting gas and hit a brick post in front at a strip mall. It happens. Lol

Maybe the same mental processes that drove him to be highly successful also made him wonder whether he was good enough.

I believe that is more common than some will realize. I have seen people that had just figured out the most complex problem talking about themselves like they were the dumbest person alive.

My experience with that telling a drunk person that he or she is drunk is about the same as telling a person that is clearly showing mental illness that he or she is likely mentally ill. In both cases, the capacity to reason is gone.

realize they have a problem. Depends on the individual, which single or multiple illness they might have.
Sometimes reason is good in some areas and not in others.
