Heard him in the late 70s playing a convention in Chicago. He migrated to hotel bar (Palmer House I think) after the performance and played there for another couple hours. Amazing.

I loved Chick. Saw him perform many times over the years. What an amazing talent. I really loved his duets with Gary Burton.

I started with Romantic Warrior and Friends in high school. Then worked my way backward to Now He Sings, Now He Sobs and the Circle band.
Great composer and one of those rare improvisers who could do anything he wanted to, at any time, as if the instrument didn't even exist.
Listening to his very early appearances on records, he had his "stuff" right from the beginning...a sign of a true genius.
