The Biden administration is planning Friday to wipe out one of the core health policies of the Trump era, taking actions that will immediately rescind permission for states to compel poor residents to work in exchange for receiving Medicaid benefits, the Washington Post reports.
Federal health officials will withdraw their predecessors invitation to states to apply for approval to impose such work requirements and will notify 10 states granted permission that it is about to be retracted.

(13,569 posts)5. Here's how Trump's policy on disabilities has affected one person I know.
A person now 50 who was diagnosed thirty years ago as permanently disabled, with developmental delay, fine motor deficit, epilepsy.
Two months ago, this person's Social Security, SSI were abruptly stopped, without notice. This is the only income.
Her mother finally telephoned SS to ask about the absence of the direct deposit. It turns out that forms asking for an update on the disability had been mailed to a ten year old postal box address (despite this person receiving SS mail at the correct address regularly for ten years now).
So, new forms were sent to the correct address, completed and returned six weeks ago.
Since then, nothing. A phone call to SS resulted only in news that the office is backlogged.
Thanks, DJT.
