I have an appointment tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. to receive the first round of the Moderna vaccine which was my personal preference. I asked, and was assured there is definitely going to be enough for the second injection. I was very happy to receive the call.

(18,131 posts)They will make your second appointment when you get your first.
The vaccine seems to be moving now. I received my second Pfizer yesterday.
Several family members received their first. Pharmacies are getting the vaccine, Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, my local Kroger.
Isnt it great to have a competent President in charge? Saying everyone should be vaccinated by July! Congrats on your first.

(6,300 posts).... your wait won't be very long, especially since President Biden has secured 200 million more doses for distribution.
I have been working on getting my wife on waiting lists. Since Joe was elected my confidence that every American will be vaccinated if they so desire has increased exponentially.

(24,588 posts)When they opened up to people 65 and up I registered right away. I live in rural Pa. in a small county. The pharmacy I registered at had 2,000 doses and got 12,000 applications, their system crashed. 3 days ago I got my first appointment for Feb. 23rd.
Not to worry, help has arrived. We have someone in charge now who is moving us away from herd mentality.

I was surprised going on a holiday but happy for the call. Either they are paying overtime or they contracted it out. Follow up second shot is exactly a month later and they scheduled that also. It is in an out building on the Medical center grounds. I was hoping to go in and NOT see Trumps face welcoming me.
I was just thinking earlier, that on my many visits to the VA, the only downside was walking in and seeing the traitors face staring back at me. For me, that ends tomorrow.

(40 posts)I too got a text telling me to schedule...I go tomorrow at 9:45 in Pa. Its like Xmas Eve anticipation! Can't contain myself!

(6,300 posts)I am in Louisiana, and I have to say the VA where I'm at has been outstanding since I've been here.

(9,292 posts)Thats how it worked for me too. VA called, got my first dose 4 days later and my last dose will be on the 21st. It took all of 20 mins to be completely done on the first visit. I got the Pfizer shot, no reaction to me on the 1st dose. VA is on top of this. Youll see, and congrats.

(6,300 posts)I don't expect anything else but a smooth, and efficient visit. The VA? I'm a believer.

(31,933 posts)Will leave in less than an hour. Got the call earlier in the week from being on a waiting list for my county health department. Don't know whether it will be Moderna or Pfizer until I get there as the scheduler said they've been getting supplies of both.

(17,077 posts)My wife is a remote IT contractor to the va, and she and all of her coworkers are getting shots.
MA is still on the first category, 70 and over. We have a repug governor who just doesn't seem to give a shit about distribution. We have plenty of doses, just no way to efficiently administer them. Baker actually bristled and gave a sarcastic answer to a reporter who asked why.
I don't know why people like this guy. He is a lazy corporate bastard.

(9,292 posts)I didnt know, I thought I was a little young. My husband cant get a vaccine anywhere. I just got an email from the VA and put myself on the list. My doctor pulled my name. Yeah, I was going even if Im a little younger then the cut off in my state, and dont have any big medical issues. Unless taking a thyroid pill daily is now a thing.

(17,077 posts)Bedford must have enough to do that, but fall river is still 70+.
My wife has had multiple co-workers and friends who are veterans get vaccinated there this week.
Oh, and apparently you shouldn't feel guilty if you get a shot out of line. My bil is a big wig epidemiologist and his position is that if you can get a shot, go for it. Every person who is vaccinated puts us further down the road to general immunity. I mean don't knock an old person off their walker to get ahead, but if an opportunity comes up you should go for it.

I am due for my second Moderna vaccine next week. I am waiting for the county to call and getting a little worried about it.

(6,300 posts)I have to wonder where I would be if the traitor was still in the White House. I'm pretty sure I would not be going to the VA tomorrow morning for my first shot of the vaccine.

I'm so excited!! I just can't wait for this whole pandemic to be over. I'm not a real social person, but we miss dinners out.

Soon these vaccines will be available everywhere thanks to President Biden and his competent team. t.What's scary is I saw an article with a poll saying around 1/3rd of the US population will refuse to get one due to CT's no doubt

(6,300 posts).... of the opportunity. It is extremely difficult for me to wrap my head around CTS in this country. The thought process is something completely alien to mine. The closest I can come is a willful ignorance beyond anything I've ever witnessed or could imagine.

(7,719 posts)Totally unexpected! I was signed up but figured it would be March before my little town got vaccine. I'm 65, so my group was up when it arrived. 600 doses for a county of 20K.

(6,300 posts)....right age. I figured I would be near the front of the line after Frontline workers, and those with medical problems worse than mine. Didn't think it would happen so soon though, but I'm grateful.
