A couple of weeks ago I was watching Rachel Maddow and she said (and her guest agreed) it takes 2/3 of the senators present, not 2/3 of the senate to convict. Maybe DUers with republican senators could call their offices and remind them that not being present for the vote is an option.

As the Constitution says... So if a significant number don't show for the vote, could be a good thing. Perhaps there is a plan to do that for cover.

for any Republican senators. The only option that doesn't put a target on their backs is a vote to acquit.
Now they might understand why their constituents are called "deplorables".
