Democrats have one big weapon left against Trump. Will they use it?

Damning new facts show Trump may have known Pence's life was in danger when Trump attacked Pence during the insurrection. Democrats simply must call witnesses. If Trump knowingly pointed this loaded gun at Pence, we need to know the full story. New piece:

Trump may have intended physical harm to Mike Pence. We need to nail that down.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/02/12/democrats-call-witnesses-trump-impeachment/

Evidence is mounting that Donald Trump knew Mike Pence was in grave danger from the mob rampaging into the Capitol when the then-president sent out a tweet blasting his vice president.

During the Jan. 6 assault, Trump tweet-slammed Pence for lacking the “courage” to overturn the election, which further infuriated the insurrectionists. Trump essentially pointed the mob like a loaded gun at Pence — and newly unearthed facts suggest Trump may have understood what he was doing in exactly these terms.

These new circumstances hand Democrats one last big weapon to wield against Trump at his impeachment trial. They also impose on them an obligation.

Specifically, the impeachment managers can still call witnesses. And the case for this has gotten stronger, now that we are so close to showing that Trump may have knowingly endangered Pence’s life.

A new Post report fills in crucial details on the chronology, and they look increasingly damning:

Trump’s tweet came at 2:24 p.m. that day — only 11 minutes after live television coverage showed Pence being hustled from the Senate floor because rioters were streaming into the building one floor below. The Senate then abruptly went into recess.

Trump was watching news coverage of the session after he returned from his rally at the Ellipse, according to a person familiar with the events of the day who, like others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe what was happening behind the scenes.

4. There is no evidence....no witness that will make the GOP vote to convict. Time to move on.

I hope we may see a criminal indictment or a commission outside of congress.

the House. It hasn't been voted on or gone to the Senate for consideration. I'm sure Sanders' Senate Budget Cmte staff are working on the Senate bill while the trial is ongoing.

5. I wouldn't mind if the House team spent more time on this issue.

Pence was in real danger, and trumps words and actions were the reason why. Witnesses or not, I'd love to see them hammer this point home.
