Angry dancer now answering loaded question that insinuates that if trump is convicted today, it sets up a precedent to go back and impeach a former Secretary of State. A future Senate could be forced to put her on trial.

It's not really an impeachment until at least one Clinton is mentioned, eh?

My mute button was pressed, so I don't know why Leahy gave the chamber a language warning afterward. Oopsie. What was that about?

exerted or the mob that attacked the Capitol?

Castro starts by recalling how republican GA SoS Raffensperger was sent death threats and how much worse things could have turned out.

“It wasn’t one thing, he tried everything.” In regards to pressuring election officials and his violent followers.

better not be super stupid...

Eta: alas, it kinda is...

Isn’t a pResident subject to criminal prosecution after he leaves office for acts he committed in office, even if he committed them in January?

castor: I zoned out a bit, but I think he said Charlie Brown could kick that football later.

Raskin explained how the Senate should act now to prevent future pResidents from acting like violent tyrants right before the end of their term.

So excellent, and every time I think of how effective Raskin has been given all that’s occurred, I am profoundly grateful for all that he brings.

He carried a heavy personal burden all through this, and you would never be able to tell without knowing beforehand. His concern for the country and his strength in doing such a good job in spite of his own pain is so inspiring.

will not save trump from prosecution as a private citizen for any crimes committed in January, right?

trump team: nuh-uh! We never said that! Konstitooshun!

Raskin: of course. It's about not criming. Don't crime. It's about not doing the sedition thing. And stop whining about timing, pls.

Senate will be asked to award Officer Eugene Goodman a Congressional gold medal. Applause for Goodman, well deserved standing ovation.

eta - also a moment of recognition and thanks to all of the Capitol Police, Met Police, SWAT teams who were there that day.

eta 2 - clarification: one minute statements occur in a later session.

Sad and mad that Repub Senators who were there that day are not acknowledging reality. Says trump's team were "auditioning to compete with Alan Dershowitz for a Newsmax show." There was no lawyering going on, just an alternate reality show. The trump team was incapable of answering the questions, just attacking the House team. Sets a really bad precedent for the next demagogue who comes along, and likely some of the Senators there are happy about it because it could be them. Ouch.
