Just left the chamber:

Republican Senator Bill Cassidy is in deep thought.

When seated at his desk, his hands are on his face —sometimes rubbing his eyebrows.

Then, he started pacing in the back of the chamber. Hands on his hips. Then on his chin. Then in his pockets.

Rachel Scott
@rachelvscott
Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski taking extensive notes — often times, they are almost in sync.

When one starts to write, you can expect the other to be scribbling something down too.

And then there’s Mitch McConnell: stoic.

His eyes staring straight ahead. He is sitting straight up. His hands folded in his lap.

Many senators are slouching at this point.

He showed no visible reaction to either side for the entire time I was in the chamber.

Officer Eugene Goodman was seated just two rows behind me — back on duty watching over the senators in the same chamber he protected on Jan. 6th.

His hand on his chin, staring down into the chamber.

Head Tilted Down

While tilting the head to one side signifies interest, tilting the head down means distrust, or at the very least, doubt. It means the person is taking time to rethink what you said and judge its veracity.

Fri Feb 12, 2021, 08:02 PM

...about the danger Mike Pence was in. The thing is, it's worse than that.

Had any of the mob gotten close to Pence, the Secret Service would have used everything they had (and they have some things) to end that threat. The thing is, if that mob had firearms, and there's a suspicion some of the folks like Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, and 3 Percenters did, there's no way Pence and his family, and the Secret Service agents wouldn't have been killed. One of the reasons there was not more shooting (something the idiot Lindsey Graham doesn't consider) is there was a belief the Capitol Police were outgunned.

Donald Trump was looking for an excuse to invoke martial law and he hung Pence and the deluded maniacs who followed he egged on out as cannon fodder. This was totally sociopathic behavior. And there are still Republicans willing to give him a pass for this sick plot.

They did not have their AR’s and they would not beat the SS in a handgun fight. Plus the SS has mini uzi type guns. Had it reached that point then the Capitol police and Metro police would have started shooting and it would have been a blood bath.

I’m tempted to think opportunity missed, but can’t make myself go that far.

What he did was truly heroic - he had to be scared to death. I sure would have been. But he kept his head and saved lives.

When we hold his noble, courageous character side by side with the Trump terrorists who stormed the Capitol, killed people, maimed people, smeared their feces on the walls, urinated on the floors, ransacked offices, and hunted Pence and members of Congress, we see how very small and mean and petty their disgusting racism really is.

Goodman is the kind of guy our kids can look up to, aspire to have that courage. The Trump terrorists are dirtbags who are an embarassment to this entire nation. They have brought shame upon us all.
