This is what happens when you rush to produce and dispense a vaccine

In the past 3 weeks we have had only a few new cases on the Rez. Today was another proclaimed:

“Zero new cases, Zero active cases” announcement

They fast tracked the Moderna here and everyone who needed to get the arm jabs has done so.

Sure it’s been 30 below with twice that wind chill factor, but I feel like it’s paradise

Edit to add: they have dropped the mask mandate in this state, but it’s still in place on the Agency which is proper, IMO. There’s still a curfew but nobody goes out at -30 even if your car starts lol

1. Dropping the mask mandate is dumb.

After I get vaccinated I am still wearing one. The vaccines are not that effective against the mutations.

There’s only 3 people per square mile on this frontier so outside of work should be ok

There’s still a mask mandate on the Agency but there are very few public gathering spots, churches and Tribal offices mainly

Used to a mask now. We have had nearly a year of them, along with curfews quarantines, shutdowns, lockdowns, travel restrictions and police checkpoints.

suggests the vaccines are effective against the mutations.

Remember this is not an "ordinary" vaccine. It does not contain dead strains of the virus, itself, but mRNA (messenger RNA) which carries the recipe for the body's cells to make the spike protein from the container that carries the virus. Honestly I think this is just the COOLEST thing! So your cells follow the recipe, make the spike protein and turn it loose. Your body's immune system then does target practice on the little (expletive deleted)s so it now recognizes the threat. Should you catch the virus, your immune system will basically disable all the little spikes on the ball rendering it unable to open any of your cells and dump the virus inside them to multiply. SO COOL!

On the mask thing, to each their own. I plan to wear one until the weather warms up. And since right now it's merely -20 I don't have to wait as long as some other people.

9. As soon as everyone who wants the vaccine has it I'm happily ditching the mask.

Advocating wearing masks forever is as hyperbolic as saying we do not need them now.

Now, if I get a cold I will wear one again for others benefits.

17. The Tribal council here is very well organized

They don’t mess around
They caught shit from some enrolled members for the police checkpoints and lockdowns but.....
Nobody messes with the Tribe and everyone knows each other so it’s easy to crackdown on slackers, just talk to one of their Aunties and they straighten them up

I miss the checkpoints I liked talking to the guards they were up so long we all became friends
Going hunting at 5 am I would bring them Red Bull’s and pop tarts on the way out and wild game on the way in
