Optimism with Biden's presidency, to me, will be somewhat offset by lingering powderkegs
This whole thing post-election has been a mess - a corrupt mess - as bad as the four year shitstorm that was Trump.
Aside from Biden's efforts (and needs) to juggle an incredibly complex repair job going forward - weeding out the trumpers as best he can from as many places as they are hiding in various areas, dealing with COVID, healing those who need heeling (and dealing with those who still don't see him as legit)....
Significant unanswered questions. The Boeberts and others who seemed to help plot the Jan 6 mess - either via tours of the Capital with MAGA scum, or direct plotting with trump et al....why hasn't this been dug into? We have criminals as senators and representatives
The continued BIG LIARS - every day they don't emerge and say that the election was fair and trump legitimately lost, the pressure keg will start to build again. Nearly half of the country is a fact-averse cult that are not going to go away.
The COVID truthers and anti vaxx assholes and antimaskers and superspreaders, who will both hinder us getting through this and create labs for the virus to continue to mutate
The continuing damage done by the unfettered right wing lying TV and radio media that builds and nurtures the cult
watching whether the media pivots to Biden and his progress, or retains their weird binky fixation on all things trump - wanting those ratings and ad dollars.
Though I didn't watch any of the second impeachment, I read about it during the day here, and each evening - and the whole thing - realizing how many of our elected officials are cowards, or criminals, or complicit and addicted to the power adhering to trump brings - makes me physically ill. Do we ever have our work cut out for us - Democrats in congress, Joe and Kamala - this is just a herculean task that lies ahead.
In my mind, we can make no mistake about what the impact of the likely impeachment outcome - not guilty - will do to continue to embolden the cult. This will create a continuing - growing? - dangerous situation for the country for the forseeable future. Once again, as with Dubya, crimes in broad daylight are going unpunished.
