My wife wondered why it took him so long to come forward with this. I think he hit his limit while watching the impeachment and could no longer cleave to party loyalty any - “loyalty “ to this putrid iteration of the party, anyway.

Perhaps he is a staunch old-school Republican that just could not easily let go of his years and years of belonging. Perhaps he has been trying to adapt to the more up-to-date Ayahuasca Republicans and that just became an asylum too far. I would have thought that threats to his family from Vlad The Impaler might have been something impossible to close the lid on, but what do I know.
