he sent a letter to his caucus explaining his bullshit reasons to acquit. He did say that presidential criminal misconduct should be dealt with by our legal system.

So you can't bring charges against a president while they are in office, and according to Repubes once a president is out of office the entire subject is moot and there's no point in even doing it...

They voted not to impeach the first time so the "voters could decide" and the voters decided and Rump tried to overturn that decision and people were killed and now they're like "He is out of office now, why aren't you happy with that? Do you want to ruin this white young man's bright future?"

They're saying their guy has a lifetime Get Out of Jail Free card as far as they are concerned.
