Get Trump gone. Out of the news. I don't like calling witnesses.

This could take forever. Depositions? The rules have to be negotiated. The expert on CNN from Tulane is an outstanding resource.

Remember who likes obstruction.

Will this change anyone’s opinion on Trump?
Will it change the opinion of this impeachment by anyone who actually watched it’s?
The last and bottom line is - Will this really turn 17 Republican Senators?

Get this over. Get to virus stimulus.

Trump was tweeting that pence did not have the courage to do something he had no authority to do. Putting pence in further danger. All this happened AFTER the secret service spirited pence and his wife and family away for safety. After the mob stormed the capitol saying, “hang mike pence”. Trump was mad and he didn’t give a shit who was killed.

It is important that this is done well, as it will become part of history. This is not just a trial of a former president, it is the documentation of an attempted coup of our democracy. We all know how republicans like to gloss over certain aspect of our history or sometimes even rewrite it. This trial will become part of the permanent record and needs to be thorough, accurate, and as complete as possible.

Our democracy is in peril. We knew that he would be acquitted - there was not a chance in hell of getting 17 senators to care more about their country than their political asses. The people have the right to know what happened on that day and the days leading up to it and it must be put on the record. AND they have the right to know how despicable the republicans are in the face or truth telling witnesses. This was a fucking insurrection.

The problem is at the state level. The Biden Administration is on it, but it will take forever to fix. The relief bill won’t make a damn bit of difference for most unemployed people unfortunately, apart from the one-time check which is of course important.

But the ship has sailed anyway; no witnesses.

Even if we still don't eke out a conviction, which I know is very unlikely, the record against those who vote to acquit Trump must be as damning as possible. We must make Republicans who support Trump pay the highest price possible for that support.

We have a strong facsist, anti-small-d-democratic movement in this country, and that's a bigger threat than some delay in COVID relief.

The Senate is still working on COVID relief in parallel anyway.

Besides, with the investigation going forward in Georgia right now, and no doubt other legal actions against Trump, you're not going to get your wish about getting Trump out of the news any time soon.
