So if McCarthy was called to testify he could say "I don't know what you are talking about. Jan 6 was just a normal boring day in the senate. Nothing happened at all."

collaborating at any level with the defendant. That doesn't seem right.
And, yes, I realize that impeachment isn't the same as a regular trial but still...
