CNN: GOP senators say witnesses won't change any minds on their plans to acquit

However, what they seem to ignore is how it will influence the American public, and even more important the fact that it will provide the historical record of what happened here, and who refused to stand up to the immorality of what a president did

even if GOP senators let him off the hook, the facts that are going to come out from these sworn-in witnesses surely can’t bode well for Trump in any future criminal or civil proceedings.

say will matter. Not one of them deserves to hold office ever again. That said, get it all on the record.

That's fine too.

I agree totally with preserving the historical facts and record. But we need to know EXACTLY what Trump did from the moment his "rally" was over until the last insurrectionist was forced out of the Capitol. That is not a difficult thing to demonstrate, and I bet there are tons of witnesses and records that can show he knew full well about the violent horrors in the Capitol on the afternoon of January 6 and did absolutely nothing about it.

Plus there will be numerous criminal and civil proceedings directly or indirectly involving trump and his henchpeople.

If a Senator votes to acquit after that, they will be toast.

The evidence presented should make those lawsuits easier to prove.

Put everything out there and then make them sign their names to it if they want to acquit.

That's what I've been saying for weeks. Putting on witnesses will force public opinion into their calculations. I, for one, hope it's a slow and agonizing process. Who are they more afraid of: a wannabe dictator who is going to jail or the public who is going to boot them out?

I want to make every GOPer pay full price for their shameless hypocrisy.

voting to acquit. They should ignore whether or not they are able to change their minds and just focus on setting the GrOPers up to lose their next election as penalty for this blind fealty to Trump. The minds that need swaying are not GrOPer Senators but voters, media, and donors (including corporations).

Maybe it won't change their minds, but it might change the minds of their grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., who have them on speed dial.

It won’t change the outcome but Americans have been lied to for four years and kept from viewing documents and hearing relevant information. It’s time for We the people to see the facts.
