Democrats shld try to come to a bipartisan agreement about what witnesses to call. But all this stuff about GOP insisting on 100 witnesses. Well, Democrats are the majority. GOP only gets to call the witnesses the Democrats allow them too. Georgia elections have consequences.

2. Headline is actually not correct

VP Harris is not involved and can't vote in this proceeding, so it is actually the majority that decides what witnesses to call. So, the Dems need all 50 plus one Repub to call witnesses.
Since 5 R's voted to call witnesses, that should not be a problem.

3. Not quite the same thing.

Republicans would presumably vote affirmatively to call their own witnesses and would need some Democrats to agree for them to be called. So, the headline is accurate in context. They can only call witnesses with help from some Dems.

The reverse, as you noted, is slightly more complicated. Assuming all 50 Ds, we'd need 1 R.
