The Capitol is 2.3 miles away from the White House

Why was the *President of the United States of America at the White House while the Capitol was being assaulted?

Why didn’t the secret service move the *President from the WH or put him in a bunker there. I have not heard he was “protected” from the insurrection happening 2.3 miles away.

I would like an explanation but won’t hold my breath.

I think this is relevant to the Mike Pence topic. I know that the VP and Speaker were in eminent danger. But the *President was only 2.3 miles away and was not evacuated to my knowledge.
