According to a source close to Trump legal team, the former president is pleased there wont be witnesses at the trial.
The source added that the legal team views the democrats decision to not call witnesses as a clear victory.

(25,429 posts)We got exactly what we wanted out of it without calling McCarthy as a witness.
Wasn't necessary, because Trump's team acknowledged that the call went exactly as described. Trump, in the middle of the riot, said he didn't care, supported the insurrections, and said he wasn't going to do anything about it.
The fact that Trump is proclaiming victory should have been the first clue that it's not.
