It was a bluff and the defense folded. Nobody wants the trial to drag on for weeks.

A quote from a newspaper article read into the record that the defense will go around for the next week saying isn't true?

IMO that story had far more impact when it was a stand-alone story than being part of this trial's record. It's likely to disappear now.

From day one, we knew that the Republicans would not turn on one of their own, regardless of the crimes. That statement is now a part of the documentation of the evidence that shows that Trump is guilty, regardless of how his minions vote. It is certainly something.

I have not read too many posts recently.

Witnesses is what WE want, it would do nothing to change a trumplikans mind.

We can't take any more time delaying the WH.

Others say it's kicking the can. I say the verdict has been predetermined so let's get on with passing Joe's agenda. We need to get Merrick Garland confirmed and hand the case over to him.
Everyone has an opinion and none of them are wrong.

BUT they should have messaged this upfront so they didn't get so much backlash from Dems!

They could have had a reliable messenger tweet it right as Raskin announced he was just going to read it into the record.

Drama people, drama!

Will you say they are "delaying the Biden/Harris agenda"?

It seems you also agree with the January exception for impeachment.

It's a free-for-all at the end of the President's term!

ala Covid. What do Democrats have to do with a January exception? Do you really think that dragging this out, will have more Republicans voting to convict? It's almost as though we've entered yet another alternate reality where Republicans act like they give a shit.

The Republicans were whining about how this was a rush to judgment, no evidence, no witnesses, etc. So the Democrats said, "We have a Republican we'd like to come in and give some evidence. Let's vote to have witnesses" and all but 5 Republicans voted no. And then the Democrats said, "Oh, wait a minute. We can get this information into the record without calling any witnesses. Never mind."
