toxic, doesn't deserve any elected position forever. Do these senators that vote to allow trump to escape any kind of judgment think in some unfathomable fashion that trump won't try anything else later? To undermine the rule of law, to laugh w/o mercy when trump's thugs kills people, etc.? Let this nightmare go away, start the rape cases back up, start the criminal proceedings against trump now.

Only "surprise" Republican to do that. This is a bit of a shock. Cassidy is from Louisiana (he's my Senator, though I'd never vote for him) and he has nothing political to gain and everything to lose from this move. I have to say I think this is a moment of conscience over loyalty and party, and I have to give respect. He will probably pay in hard ways, but he also probably knows that. But he did what he knew was necessary. Thank you, Senator Cassidy.
