As always, when things like today's result happens, I think of something that is actually
comforting (though of course not particularly helpful).
We seem to be expected to be the party that holds their heads up highest - uphold the constitution, the law, decency. Democrats of course haven't been perfect throughout the history of the party - we've had our stumbles and issues.
But think of those that have held the presidency - FDR, JFK, LBJ, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, now Joe Biden - intelligent, insightful, creative, decent, honorable, impactful. We can add many names to the list for Democratic Senators and Congressfolks.
I think what makes us Democrats can work against us in knock down battles when the other side is cornered or caught - the "party of law and order" becomes a joke, and have no issues with their frequent criminality and dirty methods.
Trump has a long history of getting away with essentially everything. I suspect there is something malignant behind him keeping him shielded - but don't want to go there in this post. We know who we are - and we know who they are. And I think we are all pretty damn happy we are the way we are.
And....fuck republicans. All of em.
and...one more thing. Thanks for the hearts, my friends. I am deeply overwhelmed....
