I like him a lot these days, so much more than when corporate PR was puffing their anchor product as greater than Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite combined. Unfortunately for what he might have been back then, his entire anchor career took place during the conservative slide of America from the 1980s on and included the degradation of the evening news into tabloid coverage of OJ Simpson in the 1990s, on through and past Michael Jackson's disgusting scandals and sleazy death after the turn of the century. His removal after his own scandal was more than fine with me, but in the end it rescued him. I no longer mind that he's being brought back into prime time during special events in a time when journalism itself has crawled back out of the pit and become more of what it's supposed to be. Like Williams. And love his sense of humor.
