what they wanted to hear when he "sounded more like a house manager" in reminding that Trump is still liable to prosecution for everything and didn't get away with anything, yet. A lock him up. Whatever McConnell's personal feelings might be (and there's reason to believe he may be a true, conscienceless psychopath), it was (also?) done to keep the spigot open. Wallace thought McConnell had a problem with his own conscience.
