Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSpeaker Pelosi just turned me around on censure with these powerful words:
"Oh, these cowardly senators who couldn't face up to what the president did and what was at stake for our country are now going to have a chance to give a little slap on the wrist. We censure people for using stationary for the wrong purpose. We don't censure people for inciting insurrection that kills people in the Capitol."
I had been in favor of a censure resolution just because I want that miserable piece of shit to receive at least some kind of a rebuke.
I now believe that she is absolutely right. And I will do everything I can to ensure that their cowardly votes to acquit remain hung around the neck of every one of those 43 sycophantic, ass-kissing, Republican senators.

Regarding reading & writing, I've spent years teaching and correcting papers. Spotting mistakes is automatic, which I wish spell-check were. Errors distract and detract, but then so do posted corrections, and most people don't take kindly to red-pencil posts from fellow humans. I frequently fight that urge, and not always successfully.
I suspect that the great majority of people who post online don't even bother to read over what they've written & fix typos, much less (gasp!) edit their writing for clarity or style. It's just just type & send.
Not claiming my posts are perfect! For one thing, I learned to type using a full-size, physical keyboard and haven't adapted well to the tiny phone screen ones. However, I do make an effort, every time, to fix & edit before posting. And I'm happy to have any errors I've missed brought to my attention so I can correct them.

Good for her. Thank you all too as you are my outlet to blow off steam. We dont all get a national stage, but here among friends it is cathartic just the same.

(12,993 posts)the most bipartisan vote to convict in the Senate.
As disappointing as the failure of the Senate to reach the required super majority to convict was, the majority, bipartisan votes in the House and Senate was a far more serious rebuke that any vote to censure.

(833 posts)In 1954 the Senate censured Joe McCarthy, and it was no slap on the wrist. In the linked document, I call your attention especially to the words "...restore the sense of dignity..." under the heading Response of the Senate. The entire article is worth it, but if you're not up for anything else, at least read the Conclusion. Do we need to restore a sense of dignity? Yes, and badly. Is this the Senate of 1954? No, it isn't. But this Senate and House can put as much iron in the glove it slaps miscreants with as it wants to.

(25,904 posts)seriously is that the Traitor Party wanted to do a token "disapproval" of him to polish their image without actually hurting their leader. Similar to Traitor Mitch giving a scorching speech about the insurrection incitement AFTER voting to acquit him on the grounds that it was unconstitutional because the Traitor in Chief was no longer in office. But of course it was Traitor Mitch who refused to convene the Senate for a trial while "it" was still in office.
Trying to have one's cake and eat it, too.
