7. I never watch morning cable news.

All of the networks push right wing talking points. They may put a progressive slant to the talking points but they are talking about subjects that the GQP wants talked about. I only watch Nicolle, Chris, and Rachel.

Right now they are non stop talking about Trump and his 2024 run or criticizing the impeachment managers. I wish they had called witnesses but I understand that president Biden needs to get on with his agenda. I heard that Republicans like Joni Ernst threatened Democrats that if they called witnesses that Republicans would stifle Biden's appointments.

.... on Monday morning. What is obvious to me is that even the haters are loyal fans. Why are there so many Morning Joe posts from Scarborough haters unless they are watching? Why do we never see posts about New Day with Alisyn Camerota and John Berman who's show is on at the same time? Because they're watching Morning Joe.

13. I don't get it either

I have seen some detailed hating going on here in regards to Morning Joe. With that kind of detail, one has to assume that the person doing the hating is still loyally watching the show. Yet, here in DU, if you say something someone disagrees with one time, they just put you on ignore (which, in my opinion, pretty much destroys the reason for this site in the first place). Is there more 'glory' in arguing with someone who is not here as opposed to someone who is? Or, is it just 'easier'? I just don't get it. (This is like my nephew screaming at a YouTube video... as if the person can actually hear him and will attempt to adjust because of his complaints.)

I just don't understand how having a friendly relationship with Trump before he was president, and having him on his show several times until he cut ties with Trump in 2016 is equivalent to someone who brought a democratic presidential campaign to ruin, not to mention bringing Sarah Palin to the forefront of the GOP, but guess who is in the favorable limelight here at Democratic Underground? I'm going to guess it was because Joe Scarborough was a well-known public individual, and easier to attack, and not someone working quietly behind the scenes of political machinations.

16. It's kind of a hate-watch for me

Mostly when Joe is on, I find the whole thing an exercise in absurdism.... Joe goes off on some ramble, Mika gets visibly agitated and tries to get a word in edgewise but can't. Meanwhile all the guests are sitting there sheepishly, not commenting so they don't get caught in the crossfire of bickering spouses on national TV.

And I don't think I can ever forgive them for hosting the Trump Call-In hour they ran pre-2016. Hope the ratings for your weekday morning cable TV show were worth it! (sad thing is it probably was worth it)

All that said and kidding aside, the guests and conversations they have are often interesting and engaging and the reason I watch. I think Alisyn Camerota and John Berman on CNN are great, but I don't find the morning show as interesting. It's the fact that MJ gets so many guests, and the quality conversations they often have, that I find myself paying attention.

I think it's also worth looking at how one watches TV. During the day while I'm working, I'll have the TV running at a low volume. It's background noise and not the primary focus of my attention. This means I'm not going to channel surf and flip channels whenever Chuck Todd comes on and make a dumbass point. The process goes more like, I'm typing an email, Chuck Todd makes some exclamation (I swear one of these days he's going to lose all his money on Gamestop stock and ask Stephanie Ruhle on air for financial advice), I look up and think to myself "is the man being this dense intentionally? no, he's just dense." I return to my work email and carry on with my day. Might check out Twitter to see people's takes of Chuck Todd's take. Point being, it's background noise.

.... there are not many Scarborough haters that take your position. For the most part, I enjoy Scarborough's rants against the GOP, and the traitor in the White House. I wish more Progressive news people and columnists would also take a more aggressive stance. Your opinion and take on Scarborough does not fit into the narratiive that I'm trying to get across. It's honest and forthright, but not hateful. Even the "hate-watch" comment really doesn't sound hateful. Thanks for the reply.
