Nobody in Texas owns a shovel so locals have resorted to shooting at the snow.

On Sunday night, not long after the Texas senators sent their letter, the White House responded.

"Today, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. declared that an emergency exists in the State of Texas and ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from a severe winter storm beginning on
February 11, 2021, and continuing."

Its 13 degrees in San Antonio where my daughter lives, saw pic of snow in her yard. She has a covered porch so no snow to worry there. It will melt fast though by weekend as weather goes back to normal.

We normally get snow a few days a year. This year none. There is snow in Portland but not down here. Weather in 40's.

I prefer snow over ice any day.
But a lot of people seem to be getting ice and don't know what to do with it, or how to drive on it.

Snow no problem, ice always scared me because of one time I hit black ice and skidded. I was fine didn't brake did the right things but drove little when roads were icey.

Sorry, sane Dem/Progressives. I've gone through this too in our decades-long successful fight to turn Colorado blue. I doubt you will be aided by an influx of liberal Californians (though we got the Southern CA financial regressive conservatives too), but maybe if immigration returns, that can make help dilute the crazies.

Feb 2021

Saturday we got another 2.5-3 inches of snow.
It was really light & fluffy, so the guy who lives in a small house on a big(!) lot on a hill across the street used his leaf blower to clear the driveway. Worked well!
I used the snow blower mostly because I had to get rid of the pile from the streets being plowed.
People in Texas probably have leaf blowers! Well, maybe not in El Paso!

on his gravel driveway, which is uphill from the road to his house, so far this winter. I'd never thought of it, but on the light, fluffy stuff, why not?

The house is owned by a guy who used to own the Chevy dealership.
Guy living there is a part owner of a lawn care company. So, he's got really good equipment.
But, it worked great for him!

this as socialism when it is Democratic States or people that tend to be Democratic .

If this was a blue state he would oppose help and claim it was socialism and blame democrats in the state for the problems.

that asked the President for emergency relief for Texas, President Joe should have immediately replaced the 2 Senators and Governor with some people with brains. THAT is the relief Texas needs!

And a question: Isn't providing "relief" to citizens an example of 'Socialism?"

I will listen to how Cruz and republicans hate socialism just as soon as they end all corporate welfare.
Stop giving billions of my tax dollars to oil companies and baseball and football teams.
We spend way more on corporate welfare than social welfare.
