Originally we had two holidays in February - one to celebrate Lincoln's birthday and one to celebrate Washington's birthday. Then it morphed into "Presidents Day" so that employees only got one day off instead of two. It was never meant to celebrate all Presidents.

I'm old enough to remember when that happened.

I guess I never realized that.

I'm from the state that gave us eight Presidents.

Even back when I was in high school, my American History teacher was infatuated with WWII, so once we got to that place in the history book that's all we learned. I realize she was WWII generation and all, but there were other things that it would have been great if she focused more on.

I still think they should use "A People's History of the United States" as a high school textbook.

I really like it, and I'm still grinning. I wouldn't have put Drumpf in Paul Lynde's spot, though.
