I have been trying for what seems like a lifetime to get my first covid shot. Finally, I got my appointment set up for February 28. My wife got her first shot last Tuesday.

(823 posts)...yesterday. She immediately turned green, swelled up and all her buttons popped off. Just kidding...
She did get her vaccine yesterday. I am still waiting for mine.
If anybody would turn green, it would be my wife. She is allergic to everything. She got her shot and is doing great.

(30,761 posts)I tried to sign up at an area Hy-Vee Saturday. In the time it took to fill out the online form, I was told that all the appointments were gone.
We will keep trying.

(12,400 posts)If you need one come on down because our Governor is very intent on making sure every snowbird and tourist can get one. Not so much for locals.
I thought about visiting my kids in Indiana and Ohio and getting one there, but their rules are strict: residents only. But most of them have already gotten theirs early... in Florida.
Good thing Im not bitter.

(12,400 posts)because against his wishes the Keys closed at the start of Covid to protect our small community. We had virtually zero cases until the road was opened and Miami came rushing in. So now we are in the thick of it, but our county is only allowed 270 vaccines every couple of days through two Publix stores 100 miles apart.

(10,063 posts)Ive had the first shot (almost no side effects) of Moderna, and I just felt so relieved at having that shot and maybe being in the cue for the second shot. Texas seems to be stretching out the time between shots rather than aiming for complete vaccinations.

(11,564 posts)It is surprising to me that you and your wife wouldn't get them simultaneously, but it's great, nonetheless!
I don't even have a timeline, as yet - not even a season, let alone a specific month.

(1,577 posts)My wife is older than me and in a different grouping, the cutoff being 75 years old. She's over and I'm under. We had to do them at separate times because of that.

(11,564 posts)Some front-line workers and long-term care residents first....then by age brackets, possibly modified in some cases by additional risks. I'll be 69 in August, and, by what's been published, I'm looking at maybe July to get the poke.
OLDMDDEM
(1,577 posts)There are younger people getting the vaccine before the older people because they are willing to wait in line for a long time to get the shot that is due to expire soon unless it is given out. Six Flags gives out shots now and the young people wait in line at the end of the day for shots. So, we have that issue. That's not a bad thing though. What frosts me is the ones that know someone and get the shot out of county/state.
I hope you can get yours prior to July timeframe.
Thanks for responding.
