I am 63 so I am not included in the first batches of the vaccine. But according to FL executive order 20-315 people in high risk are eligible. Although in my recent calls they just hung up on me
About a week ago I went to my pulmonologist. Last year I developed eosinophilic asthma which is horrible and I was so sick for months. Finally a drug called Nucala was started which I get once a month as a shot and after 3 months I am so much better!!!
Anyway he asked me if I wanted a letter saying I am eligible for the vaccine and I said "YES". I have been terrified of Covid since it started because of this asthma.
This morning a woman called me and asked if I wanted the vaccine and gave me an appointment for tomorrow!
So if anyone has a high risk condition and is seeking a vaccine you might want to ask your doctor if they can put you on this list. I don't know about other states but I imagine it would work in most of them.
I think Biden is also part of this by speeding up the distribution of vaccines. I wish you all speedy shots!

(17,606 posts)..called people on the list and of course most didnt want to go out in the cold and dark except for some college kids who showed up in pjs and fuzzy slippers. Good for them!! None of the vaccines went to waste.

(10,053 posts)Yes. In Florida, if you are considered an "Individual Deemed Extremely Vulnerable to COVID-19" you are eligible.

(11,637 posts)One of the questions is if you have a higher risk condition. This week, all people 75 and older are eligible here in Oregon. Next week, it drops to 70 (Im 70) and I will have my phone with me all the time. Dont want to miss that call!

(28,344 posts)I'm going to call my pulmonologist. I have to call him anyway. I'm on oxygen. I'm 68, and have Metastatic breast cancer.
I should qualify based on my age, but there has been an ongoing shortage in my county. It's very tiring and trying to gather information, especially with people on the phone who each give you contradictory info. :sigh:
Thank you for posting this. I hadn't thought of asking my pulmonologist.

(34,008 posts)And my state (Ohio) has decided to be poopy.
Biden speeding up distribution will help the queue I'm in move faster, but won't let me (cancer x 2 + diabetes) jump ahead of healthy younger teachers who are teaching remotely. I've got at least a month's wait.

(27,794 posts)He is in health care, but not in the post-65 age group yet. He was talking to his dentist, and his dentist was able to set him up with a link for healthcare workers.
I was really glad because he goes all over the state to mammogram clinics and it worried me. But the parent company is out of state and they didn't have the practical information he needed.

(6,251 posts)But they are still generally in the 70+ age group.
However, I've got "co-morbidities" -- cancer and kidney problems -- so my primary care physician got me bumped up the list. This Friday I get my second shot.

(11,560 posts)I have 2 artificial heart valves and am missing a chunk of the muscle that had to be stitched back together. I had MODS (Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome) in which my circulatory system carried pieces of the "vegetation" that Staph creates as a waste product to various organs. Lungs, liver, kidneys, all infected, all BADLY affected. (from 30% function down to 0)
I hope that qualifies me for earlier vac. because I don't think I'd fare well if I contracted it.

(217 posts)I drove a 70+ neighbor to our POD ( point of distribution) aka Large Vaccine Locations. They were considered status 1B, I am considered 1C or 2A depending if they accept my breathing problems as a risk trigger.
As a driver they asked if I wanted to be vaxxed. The logic is why have this person come back in 2 or weeks in a car. . . Perhaps solo, when we can give him a shor now and be done with him. They are using dose from that days cancellations I'm told.
So, drive someone to a Large site ! This likely won't work at a pharmacy where they don't inject 1,500 folks a day. . . .
Peace & tacos
