(7,715 posts)There is no comparison between Nixon and trump. Nixon was a zillion times smarter that the 2x impeached Dear Insurrectionist Leader.
But using folks like Roger Stone is systemic with the Rs. These folks like Stone, Manafort, Donald Segretti, Atwater, Liddy etc are masters of "dirty tricks".

(102,239 posts)Trump and Nixon were pen pals in the 80s. Here are their letters.
The letters between once and future presidents show the two men engaged in something of an exercise in mutual affirmation.

The next fall, it is Nixon chiming in.
Let me be so presumptuous as to offer a little free advice (which is worth, incidentally, exactly what it costs!) Nixon writes to Trump. Nixon, who played football in college and never lost his love for the game, then unspools detailed thoughts on how Trump should handle the New Jersey Generals football team that he had recently purchased and would fold by 1986. (Nixon included plenty of shoutouts for the underappreciated linemen, his old position.)
Trump, for his part, is unabashed about one of his aims for the relationship: One of my great ambitions is to have the Nixons as residents in Trump Tower, he writes that October.

It is real. March 11, 1989 Houston Texas. And, Beschloss does not deserve to be libeled in this way.

(102,239 posts)for someone the caliber of Michael Beschloss and it is disturbing to see someone accuse him of photoshopping his posted evidence of history.
Mistakes happen. We'll leave it there.

(34,445 posts)Even though he's leaning a little, this does not look like a 6'3" man shaking the hand of one who is 5'10.5".

(11,599 posts)It's so stupid of him to lie about it but comparing this to his other lies it's relatively harmless.

(21,627 posts)My prediction is that His Orangeness will be 76 when he passes away (i.e. 2022/23).
Meaning that to any concerns about his running in '24 are probably needless.
