A simple plan for how Republicans can take back their Party from the Trump cult.

Primary every single one of them that voted to acquit and to not certify the election. Make their worst nightmare come true. They were afraid that Trump was going to get them primaried. They should clean up their own house if they want to remain a viable political Party. They have shown themselves unworthy to govern.

The ones who are going to be primaried are the ones who voted to convict. The Velveteen Ocelot Feb 2021 #3

The Seditionist Right has taken over the party and dominate the primaries. radius777 Feb 2021 #9
That might work. But I think putting all the reTHUGS in prison is a good plan too. abqtommy Feb 2021 #11

The majority of the GOP leadership agrees with Trump.

...until they realize they were not as popular as they thought. The many millions of voters that voted for Trump the last time will not be there the next time, in my hopes and wishes.

The QGOP has largely taken over at the state level, and the potential new candidates are crazier than the current office-holders.

the only real disagreement among Republicans is that Trump is too "out in the open" with the beliefs and "values" they all share.

seen a lot of evidence that they want to, just those never trumpers who have always wanted to get rid of him.

The moderate or mainstream conservative faction of the Repub party has shrunk (some have left and voted for Biden) and those who remain have simply drank the kool-aid.

A viable anti-Trump movement of centrist Repubs needs to emerge - but it likely will only happen after they lose badly and become electorally irrelevant. This will only occur if we destroy them at all levels an the ballot box in 2022 and 2024. Then and only then I think will we truly see a moderate wing of the GOP that would have a chance at taking over the party.
