Here's part of Thunes excuse

""The impeachment trial is over and former President Trump has been acquitted. My vote to acquit should not be viewed as exoneration for his conduct on January 6, 2021, or in the days and weeks leading up to it. What former President Trump did to undermine faith in our election system and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power is inexcusable," Thune wrote."

And then followed with the "he's out of office" hook that Moscow Mitch gave them.

What was interesting is this part:

"I have great concerns with the Senate punishing a private citizen with the sole intent of disqualifying him from holding future office. Our Founders designed impeachment to be an extreme remedy and cautioned against its use as a political weapon. We should heed their caution. In our democracy, matters of representation should be left with the people, as the Founders intended," he wrote."

What is wrong with these people?? A guy who tries a coup on the Government in order to stay in power should NOT be allowed to EVER, EVER run for office again. Did Mitch forget to tell you what to say?

OMG, he didn't view what happened as consequential enough to prevent this guy from running again! What would it take? What does it mean when the Congress has to remove their pins and HIDE from a mob intent on killing them?

These people are TOO STUPID to rule over us. STUPID. As has been said, if this wasn't enough to move them, nothing will be.

As it is, Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who did not vote to convict, but allowed Trump to go on his way and now comes out with the "he was guilty but I had to let him go" excuse, is married to Trump for all of history. History will brand him an effing coward forever.

I'd let this go, but these speeches are an affront to basic intelligence, and can't be ignored. There is no excuse for this cowardice. Not when you have people like Eugene, the wrong color to the mob, facing them down and backing away as he saves your cowardly ass while risking his own. You let him down, you let your country down.

YOU OWN IT. So. STFU and go away.

through the NRA. But if that's the case, they shouldn't bother trying to convince us of their noble, intellectual allegiance to the Constitution. It doesn't exist.

Garbage in, garbage out. I don't want to hear it anymore.
