The state's politics are dominated by right-wing politics. The Senators are off-the-rails nut cases. The Governor is a secessionist. The attorney general tried to invalidate OTHER STATES' voting results.
Those people are in their elected offices because the voters in Texas elected them.
Is that "Texas bashing?"

(15,220 posts)Those people are in their elected offices because the voting districts in Texas are heavily gerrymandered and because of active voter suppression.

Some of what I've found:
"Thank you Xiden voters and Dominion machines. F.u.c.k you for jacking up my energy costs."
"Stop with the vortex..... gas is rising because of tyrant democrats stopping the pipeline "
"Too bad there is not a better source of energy than natural gas that never fails to produce when it is needed most. Oh wait, there is - shame that Obama and the other Global Warming hoax cultists unconstitutionally destroyed the industry that has never failed to keep Americans warm in the winter..."
"I hope that many Xiden voters freeze out. It would serve them right."
"Just wait until Biden's executive orders kick in ... you ain't seen nothin yet."
"Let's see a fake pandemic, lockdowns crushing economy and jobs. biden shuts down fossil fuel energy production forcing higher consumer prices while eliminated 1Million direct and indirect jobs in the process. And this arctic cold? Curious if you've been watching...odd development and odd pressure on the jet stream. Perchance a modification weapon at it's heart?

As long as there are people who are willing to jump on the broad blanket bandwagon, sadly it will continue. What I would remind people of is the moral and intellectual superiority these people feel is nothing more than figments of their imagination, and any boost to their egos comes only from those who suffer the same broad blanket syndrome. They are unwilling to understand the Democratic/Progressive Party is the sum total of every part of our country, and is not exclusive to certain regions.

I am in a red state. It deserves the bashing for who it sent to the congress - Marjorie Taylor Green anyone? And all the other repuglicans that just fall in line behind the party line. I am proud of our senate race and hope we can keep it from being an anomaly.
That is a broad statement. I can't think of one single Democrat in Texas or the South for that matter who has said anything as derogatory as right-wingers about the Democratic Party. It wouldn't hurt to differentiate, and stop taking the easy way out.
I live in the south, and I'll be damned if I will be lumped into the same pile as the right wing. Except for that right-wing who happen to be the majority now, I love the South, and I am a Democrat.

(2,574 posts)Texas blasted for Republicans' typical yee-haw thinking after 2 million lose power in snowstorm
Bob Brigham
February 15, 2021
The GOP leadership of Texas was slammed on Monday after a winter storm knocked out power across the state.
snip----
"If Texas was on the national grid, our homes wouldn't be as low as 15 degrees. But no, we had typical yeee-haw thinking we're better than everyone. Or we could have planned ahead, made sure our wind turbines had cold weather packages - companies like Siemens sell them given how much of our power comes from turbines now frozen," he wrote.
"Instead, these idiots who think they know more than experts go 'Yee-haw! Hardy-hardy-har! It's so cold and the libs say global warming!! Har har. Let's watch The Bachelor now.' This would not be anywhere near this bad if, 1. The USA invested money in our power grid. 2. If Texas either got on the national grid, bought cold temperature packages for turbines, or both, and 3. Listened to science," he explained.
"But as always, we are governed by the stupid who think they're smart, who think preparation is for wimps, who laugh at science and who are more concerned about lowering taxes than public safety. We're captive to the dumbest among us. And through the people they vote in, we are rapidly turning into a 3rd world country while cheering how exceptional we are," he charged.

Thankfully, enough urban voters in PA voted for President Biden to help him win the Electoral College. In fact, they're going to vote to censure one of their own, Senator Toomey, because he voted to convict Trump.
