Pizzagate’s deadly legacy: D.C. pizzeria gunman is out of prison. Conspiracy theories he helped unleash in 2016 fueled Capitol riot.

The gunman who terrorized a D.C. pizzeria is out of prison. The QAnon conspiracy theories he helped unleash are out of control.

SALISBURY, N.C. — He slipped out of bed before sunrise and started driving, spurred by the conspiracy theory he would soon help make famous. As he sped the 350 miles from his hometown in North Carolina to the nation’s capital, Edgar Maddison Welch tilted his cellphone camera toward himself and pressed record.

“I can’t let you grow up in a world that’s so corrupt by evil,” he told the two young daughters he had left sleeping back in Salisbury, “without at least standing up for you and for other children just like you.”

So on he drove, to the supposed center of that corruption: Comet Ping Pong, a popular pizzeria in Northwest Washington where, according to the false conspiracy theory known as Pizzagate, powerful Democrats were abusing children. And Welch, a struggling 28-year-old warehouse worker, intended to rescue them.

Four years later, thousands of people would follow Welch’s fevered path to Washington, drawn from across the country by an ever more toxic stew of disinformation and extremism, including Pizzagate’s successor: QAnon.

that QAnon never apologizes for being wrong. They just move on to another conspiracy. When I had friends promote conspiracies on Facebook, they would never engage in discussion. All they did was post and repost their screeds.

They won't discuss anything. They just shout "Fire" in the theater.

Narcissists rarely admit they're wrong unless they can profit somehow from it. Since they create their own reality, it's much more productive and seamless to just move along with another fantasy.

Their beliefs are not based on logic and facts, so using logic and facts against them has no impact.

"Say, Cris, how'd you know we'd be living on Mars by...? I guessed.
I made it up. It's horse shit. Eddie, there's no such thing as a psychic. People believe my folderol
because I wear a black tuxedo.
"...or post what they want to hear on an internet forum site!

Drop in or pull up an Art Bell show and listen to the psychic fantastical paranormal drivel the callers and "experts" issue as if some factual thing affecting us all. Millions listen and live under this parallel spell of goofiness.

Psychics, cults, paranormal predictions, ghosts, beliefs, prophecies are all pushed. And the day of reckoning comes, NOTHING! It may leave some lingering followers waiting, but for the most part the "dim-witted believer crowd" stumbles along to the next ill-advised prophecy.
