‘You joined the Devil’s Army’: Adam Kinzinger reveals letter ‘brainwashed’ Trump-loving relatives sent him after he voted for impeachment

(Independent UK) A Republican congressman who broke with Trump and was censured by his own party has shared a letter sent by relatives who he says were “brainwashed”, after they called him a “disappointment”.

Adam Kinzinger, who voted along with 10 other Republicans to impeach the former president on 13 January, was sent the letter by relatives after he broke ranks to condemn the events of 6 January, when Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol.

His family reportedly said in the letter two days later that Mr Kinzinger was “a disappointment” to them “and to God!”, and that his remarks about Mr Trump “have embarrassed the Kinzinger family name”.

Speaking in an interview published on Monday – and after his Republican colleagues in the Senate voted to acquit the former president on Saturday – the six-term Illinois Republican said the letter showed that his relatives had been “brainwashed” when it came to politics. ......(more)

Some Republican members voted to acquit. And, Trump nearly had them killed in the Capitol Coup. They fear Mr.Tee more than death! That is as hard a cult belief as one can have.

Their own bible is an idol. Some carry it with them wherever they go, and rely on it like a crutch. I told my ex-wife, "Jesus never used the New Testament."

Just think about that for a minute. He wouldn't go away from home without it.

Why in hell would you need a stupid paperback book, if you believed any of it?
How would a few pages of typing compare to the reality of an all-knowing omnipotent god?

That guy doesn't have faith...lol

I once showed my ex a book I had on basic electricity. It's a mammoth book. I told her that the book is just a basic introduction to electricity, yet it is 5 times as in depth as your bible. How can a book that is meant as the foundation of humanity be so scant? Her first line of attack was always that I'm an atheist and hate God and worship Satan.

My cousin who played guitar and sang had a duo with a guy who used to come to our family functions like a family member. She was staunch anti-Trump and he was opposite. They totally didn’t talk to each other for years. In December she died of a stroke and they never got to reconcile. it makes me so sad.

Mr Kinzinger told the Times: : “I hold nothing against them, but I have zero desire or feel the need to reach out and repair that. That is 100 percent on them to reach out and repair, and quite honestly, I don’t care if they do or not.”

It sounds like Kinzinger was prepared for this, and has zero fcks left to give for his family.

Now you are whining because "they" are irrational?
