(8,910 posts)but the (R)'s have taken this to an illegitimate reason and have abused the standard practice.
Legitimate Reasons:
1) Voter has died
2) Voter has moved to another county/state
3) Legal name change (i.e. should re-register)
4) ...
Illegitimate Reasons:
1) Name matching a convicts name within the state (Georgia did this)
2) Name matching a convicts name outside the state (Florida/Texas did this)
3) Voter Caging
An official looking document (but isn't) is mailed to your residence with reply required. No reply, marks the voter as purged.
This is usually done by the (R) party. If you show up, they'll contest your vote claiming you don't live at your residence because you didn't reply to the unofficial official looking document.

I don't know what this case is about, but if voters in the Illegitimate Reasons is occurring I'm all for dismissal.
If voters in the Legitimate Reasons is occurring, I'm not for dismissal.
