Bannon thought Trump was suffering from dementia and pushed 25th Amendment behind the scenes: 60 Minutes producer

Speaking on the Skullduggery podcast, veteran "60 Minutes producer" Ira Rosen told the show's hosts that during his time at the White House, Steve Bannon concluded that then-President Trump was suffering from "early stage dementia" and later launched a behind the scenes campaign to have him removed by invoking the 25th Amendment.

"[Bannon] didn't want to talk about it on '60 Minutes' at the time ... but he had laid out the record at that time," Rosen said. "This was a period of time where he had great frustrations with Trump."

"Trump was kind of throwing him under the bus a little," he continued. "There was a Time magazine portrait of Bannon, of the person who got Trump secretly elected, and Trump took a lot of sh*t for that from his New York friends. He kind of turned on Bannon and Bannon was a little on the outs in this period of time."

"Bannon realized that Trump was repeating the same stories over and over again... and Bannon wanted to do something about it," Rosen explained, adding that Bannon believed he could take over the right-wing movement from Trump.

Kushner and Bannon had daily duels going on, and Kushner won.

Look at how quickly he diminished mentally between 2016 and 2020...and it wasn't that he just got older where he looks a bit more slow. He really struggling reading, walking and drinking. I suspect he'll be even worse off in three years and it'll be more pronounced because we won't see him daily so we're not going to become acclimated to it.

Reagan really want downhill between the time he left office in 1989 and 1992. He only made one public appearance after leaving and that was at the 1992 GOP convention where he gave a very brief speech.

However, with the family debt and their trashy resorts in the toilet, his kids will pick up the slack because they've figured out how to steal the public blind via politics.

There was no indication that he could "shift gears" mentally and deal with the lost election in any fresh way. He's been stuck on that one topic for months, presumably with others feeding into it. We only get glimpses as you said; the slippage will show up more when he surfaces.

He’s an actor just like Reagan was, and if he’s playing his part right now he can sort of pull it off. But it’s gotten worse and I’d expect it to snowball over the next couple of years. It’ll be interesting to see who tries to prop him up, tell stories about how great he is and his big plans while not actually having him out where he can be questioned or interact with anyone who might catch on.
