Republicans have just begun to turn against democracy.

Republicans know that their demographics are fading quickly.
Their only chance of holding onto power in the coming decades will be destroy our democracy and replace it with a Republican autocracy.

I think that’s the underlying meaning to their recent behavior.
We will be seeing more of this in coming years as the country becomes more diverse.

They have one other option which is to actively rework the party to appeal to conservative minorities.
This is something they have discussed in the past but decided to move in the exact opposite direction. I'm not sure that is really an option for them anymore.

"Few men, indeed, are so mad that they do not know when they are doing wrong. But so avid is their pursuit of goods that wrongdoing has become an element of all they do. To protest that fact is idle. Our politics, our business — little and big, our professions, our labor, are smitten in every facet with a corruption occasioned by reckless determination to make not just a reasonable profit but all the profit that can be wrung from every enterprise. Our commonest man, emulating his superiors, forges ahead with a brick on the safety valve of his conscience. Think over your morning paper in that light."

I think donny was the extreme factor they looked for, and it failed. 3 extremist senators, or 10 extremist congress people aren't gonna do the damage one asshole president can do. I've said this hear before, I think donny will be like Palin. a supposed shoe in for the following election, but she instead went out with a whimper.

there are 30 to 40 million Gop voters that lean moderate, that I believe had enough of this extremist shit. they know that donny now painted every gop candidate with insurrection photos. the party of insurrectionists.
