(47,418 posts)Hopefully a major turning point in our society. Not just Trump, but the whole "Greed is good" mentality and "Nice guys finish last".

Trump is and was not known for using the highest-grade of building materials.

I live in NJ and have heard many times of the ways those attestations are manipulated.
After the demolition, if by chance it is discovered, then "Oops, we missed that undetectable source" and pay a fine.
Nothing is going to stop the tens of millions made by demolitioning a building like that.

(31,384 posts)Prior to 1975, there was a good chance asbestos could have been used as a filler in the concrete mix. Trump's building opened in 1984, so there is less chance it would have been used. But, it's Jersey, so who knows what might have sneaked in? On the other hand, this is a major demolition project with a lot of visibility. I would guess a professional evaluated whether there was asbestos in the concrete before it was brought down.

(11,563 posts)I had to do a partial abatement (a small area of lino in a kitchen in one suite, and a complete cleanse of a different two bedroom suite in the same building.
I have a friend in the business, and he did me a SOLID! Did it at cost, which was $15,000.
That building is what? 100 times bigger? 500 times? 2500 times? Just providing positive ventilation and filtering would be a nightmare. Room by room, each floor a containment area with a shower at its controlled entry/exit.
BobTheSubgenius
(11,563 posts)That building was a mere 32 times as large as the building I demolished.
Also....I did the kitchen lino myself, because it was a Level 1. The other suite was a Level 3.

(50,556 posts)I believe that if I would have won the auction, I would have found someone who lost his or her land to build Trumps wall, flown the whole family to AC, and had them push the button for me. It would have been poetic justice.
