This will be quick I only am able to connect in the morning for some reason.
Still no power. Nothing for even a moment. Goin on 58 hours
I braved the post apocalyptic nearby target and got batteries for our camping lamps. Half the store was with out power and there was an eerie quiet. The store was packed with people but no one said a word. The checkout line was folded back and forth 3 times the length of the store.
I went to quick checkout and was done in under 10 minutes
Everyone was, thankfully, masked
The latest is the water pressure has dropped. Our tub is filled. Were using melted snow for the toilets and I have two 5 gallon totes for drinking.
Not as cold as it as been but still below freezing.
I consider myself very lucky. There are so many more people that are in much worse shape
Cheers and stay warm as best you can, my fellow Texans

(8,810 posts)will last for months, some things will even get worse for months.......
This storm may be the end of some companies that write homeowners insurance.........
At any rate, expect massive increases in your homeowner's insurance and auto insurance across the entire country............

(4,079 posts)Other brother lives in central Austin. My aunt lives in Westlake.
I spoke to my brother in CP yesterday. They're doing okay, but he said the hardest part is that there is no food. Most businesses are closed, and most people can't get to them anyway because the roads are so icy.
Good luck. And take care.

(7,771 posts)...it totally sucks being without power. It is a regular occurrence now in Northern California with all the fires and PG&E shutoffs.
The longest period we went was for a week. When you are on a well that means no water.
At least it wasn't freezing. It was however in the high 90's every day.
Good times...

(11,563 posts)Even though I am not a Texan - not even an American, come to that - I decided to err on the side of bonhomie. As Red Green used to end every episode of a certain piece on his show: "Best of luck, I'm rootin' for you. We're all in this together."
