They’re always advertising those backup natural gas/propane generators. This storm could be a goldmine for them.

5. We bought one for ourselves here in NH several years ago...

...after two years in a row when we had ice storms that brought down power lines. I was worried that was going to be a weather trend. One of those storms knocked out power for a day for our house, and over a week just across the street from us in a neighborhood where we used to live.

The ice storms fortunately weren't a trend, and we've only gotten the benefit of the generator a handful of times, for a few hours at a time max. It makes the cost of power cost for those few scattered hours very expensive!

Still, however, it's a nice feeling of security to be prepared, so I don't regret the purchase.

type of snow/ice storm disaster, so feel sure you’ll be glad you have that power security when that storm eventually hits.

Power is much more reliable where we live now than where we lived before, which is perhaps a lower priority in the local power grid.

In our old neighborhood it seemed like at least once per year the power would go out, you'd hear a distant, muffled "boom!", and the power would stay out for a few hours because a transformer blew up somewhere.

I used to joke that they should replace the transformers with the non-exploding kind.

8. Which only operate if there is a fuel source

Whereas my house receives a daily delivery of electricity from the neighborhood fusion reactor, a scant 93 million miles away (only 8 minutes by photon) generating heat, lights, and "fuel" for my car.

They can't live their RW prepper lifestyle, without hippy tech.

9. Guns and ammo are about the last things on the list for stocking up & preparing for emergency's.

Most of us can go

3 minutes w/o air

3 days w/o water

3 weeks w/o food

A lifetime w/o guns and ammo

Make sure one has the first 3 taken care of before spending bucks on the last one.
